The Value of Copy

The way you communicate with potential customers matters. Never risk losing a sale because of ineffective copy.  As a copywriter, it’s my job to understand both your customers and your products so that I can craft the narrative that turns leads into loyal consumers.

From your website to your socials, from your emails to your promotional material — speak with a consistent, persuasive voice that represents your brand and your values.

Every word counts.

Web

Your website is your digital storefront. It’s imperative you have persuasive copy that pulls customers in and directs them where they need to go. Whether you’re looking to build your site from scratch or improve a page that’s ineffective, I can help.

Socials

There are more and more ways to reach customers every day. Allow me to help you spread the word through blogs, newsletters, eBooks, video scripts, and so much more. Stand out from the crowd by offering your customers something different.

Content

Your customers use social media and so should you. Improve your captions, build compelling ads, and optimize your content with the help of motivating copy.  Become a bigger part of your consumer community.

Advertising

The best way to stay in touch with customers is through email communication. Improve your open and click rates with enticing copy and create a community of repeat customers who actually enjoy interacting with your brand.

Emails

Whether you’re reaching out to new leads or nurturing repeat clients, don’t waste money on advertisements that don’t sell. Invest in a copywriter who will learn about your customer base and give them what they need.

How Does It Work?

from idea to delivery

  1. Initial Consultation

We’ll use my complimentary website audit as a jumping off point to discuss how I might best be able to service your needs. Based on your goals and budget, I’ll build out a package that makes sense for you.

  2. Research

Before I can represent your brand and voice, I’ll need to understand everything about your business. I’ll spend time getting to know your product, your customers, and your brand identity so that I can better speak in your words.

  3. Creation

After providing you with a delivery schedule that meets your needs, I’ll get to work on building out your copy. My goal is to make it as easy and turnkey for you as possible, but you are always welcome to provide input. As always, these are your words, I’m just writing them.

  4. Revision

The best writing comes from revision. After taking several passes of my own, I’ll send a draft over to you for feedback, and we’ll go back and forth until we land on a version you’re happy with.

  5. Results

With a fresh page of copy in your hands, it’s time to go out there and reap the rewards. Bring new customers in, turn sales, and start building lasting relationships. When you’re ready to start doing it again, I’ll be here to help!

 FAQs

  • Fair question. But here’s how I like to explain it:

The difference between a copywriter and a writer is the same difference between a salesperson and a person. We all can write, and we all can, well, person, but there’s a certain skillset that allows one to effectively turn leads into sales.

You may only get one shot in front of a potential customer. A professional copywriter will help you capitalize on that opportunity.

  • I get asked this more than anything else, and my answer is quite simple: I listen.

Having a background in journalism, I love researching and telling other people’s stories. I ask the right questions, and I’m always learning. You have all the knowledge and expertise, and it’s my job to take that special spark and turn it into words.

How I go about it differs from client to client. Some prefer to talk through ideas interview style. Others will send me their thoughts in bullet form and then I go from there. Whatever method works best for you, works best for me.

  • Because I won’t stop until you do.

I’m very confident that my copy will succeed, but I also understand and love the revision process. If I need to do another draft to better capture your thoughts, I’ll do it. By the end of the process, I want you to feel as if these words came straight from your head.

  • I provide all of my services on a per-project basis, as opposed to an hourly rate. By request, I can share specific prices for popular services. For example, I charge $100 for webpage copy, blog posts, and newsletters.

When agreeing to a larger package of services, you will receive a package discount of roughly 20 percent.

  • My retainer fees are normally agreed to for three-month stretches to adequately account for the length of more long-term projects and goals. During that time, think of me as your full-time copywriting and marketing partner. Not only will I produce all the copy that you need, but I’ll help you strategize long term, keep your website up to date, and make all the small tweaks and adjustments that might not otherwise be feasible on a project-by-project basis.

    Retainer Fee: $2,000 / month

  • At the beginning of every project, I will provide a mutually agreed-upon delivery schedule for services. Barring changes to the project, I will meet these delivery dates.

Additional services and singular deliverables will be scheduled at least a week out depending on the scope of the work, although rush work can be arranged.

I will make every effort to return the work in a time that is convenient to the client.

  • Of course.

My baseline turnaround is a week for most work, but if you need something quicker, something can almost always be arranged. For those using my Priority Retainer Services, I will make sure to get your work done as quickly as possible with no additional fee.

In other scenarios, I charge $10 for every 100 words of copy as a rush charge.

  • Yes!

My standard prices include only copy and design suggestions, but if you’d like the whole project handled for you, I’m happy to help. When it comes to design (page layouts, logos, marketing materials, etc.), I partner with the exceptionally talented Audrey Gibson of Erra Creative (a.k.a. my lovely wife). Together, we are happy to offer full-scale design and copy, including brand direction and creation.

  • The website audit is my way of getting to know you and your business.

I look to make sure that your site is clearly defining your offer and that its design directs customers towards taking the next progressive action. I’ll check whether you’re fulfilling basic SEO best practices and compare your search engine rankings to those of your nearest competitors.

The goal of the audit is to better understand how I might be able to best assist your business through my services, giving us a solid jumping off point during your free consultation.
